Term 4 newsletter- Jazzy & Maddi
So far in term 4, a fair bit has happened...
On Monday week 2, year 7-12 students participated in their athletics carnival, Laburnum vs Churchill. Some of the following activities were hosted after recess: long jump down on the bottom oval in the sandpit, high jump was hosted in the gymnasium, shotput and discus on the back oval and javelin was on the top oval. After lunch all high school students and staff made their way down to the town oval where all the running events were held. A few other more fun activities were run like the egg and spoon race, the three-legged race and the sack race. Mostly everyone gave everything a good go and results were somewhat close with Laburnum on 735 but Churchill taking the lead with 913. At the end of the day, no matter what the scores, everyone had a blast, and it was a lovely day. With all the points from the secondary and primary athletics, cross country and swimming carnivals, Churchill has come out on top with 2,031 points and Laburnum has come close behind on 1,946 points.
Last week, Mrs Kingston took select students from year 9-10 on a two-day ‘work inspirations’ excursion, from the 5th to the 6th of November. Students went to make connections with people in different industries and have taster sessions in areas such as hospitality and construction.
The high school students have also had Jess and Des in from SASS teaching students about consent and what is and isn’t okay in relationships. Most students have been participating well but they’ve also had the option to exit if they were feeling uncomfortable.
All students have been doing PAT or alternative testing to determine which students need extra intervention and support with their literacy and numeracy.
