Student Leader Report - By Maddison
Welcome back to Term 1 2024 to students, families and staff.
On Wednesday the 28th we held our first house meetings for the year. Congratulations to our senior house captains for Churchill, Brock and Maddison and for Laburnum, Layla and Emily. Our junior captains are Churchil, Jacob and Laburnum, Shaylah.
In week 4, our primary school students participated in learn to swim. Well done to everyone for participating. Lots of fun was had all around!
Well done to all the students that showed great resilience and showed up and worked hard at school on the hot days we have had so far this year. We have implemented a new sun safe policy and we require all primary and secondary students to wear a school bucket hat, especially in Summer.
Last week all classes voted for their class captains, well done to all the students that stood up and went for the role and congratulations to the students who were voted for those roles.
We look forward to the rest of Term 1 being successful and can’t wait to see what else happens this term!
Kind regards,
The Student Leadership Team.
Last week the Grade 3-6 students participated in a Water Safety program at Oatlands Pool. All students showed fantastic listening skills and were open to suggestions to improve their swimming. We are so proud of the improvements we have seen in all participating students. A huge thank you to Nathan and the swimming teachers at Oatlands.

The Grade 5/6 class have been looking into how Aboriginals had lived off the land for over 60,000 years. Today I went into their classroom with some skins, twine, a kelp basket, echidna quills and many other things.
Some students made it the session's goal to try and break the twine that was made from raffia. Underestimating how strong it is, they realised it was quite impossible.
Many others found the skins was their favourite because they were so soft.
The Grade 5/6 class are excited to make their own twine to take home to show their parents/guardians and want to have a go at making baskets also.
With the sound of music from clapsticks, to students' laughter I think today's session was a great start to introduce Tasmanian Aboriginal Culture to Campania District School.
