Student Leader report, written by Maddi Manning
Welcome back!
Welcome back to Term Two everyone, we hope you all had a lovely time during school holidays!
We are now, well and truly, back into things here at school!
Last week, on Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th, I went with the year 10 class on our ‘careers excursions’. The point of these excursions was to give us, the year 10 students, ‘taster days’ at different colleges and at TAFE so we can continue planning and thinking about our ‘next steps’ in terms of education after year 10. We visited Jordan River Learning Federation, Claremont College, Rosny College, Bayview, Sorell school and Drysdale TasTAFE (hospitality and tourism). At each school we did an information session and tour and some schools catered food for us as well. We all had an amazing meal in the Drysdale restaurant! It was awesome! Now we all have a lot more to consider when planning our next steps.
What do we have coming up?...
Next week, we will be holding our book fair, this will be held in the library and all students will be welcome to have a look or pop in during their break times. They can browse new books, stationery and posters. They will have the opportunity to purchase items they really like as well!
Great resilience shown by the Grade 10 students who stepped out of their comfort zone to attend our Career Excursions Thursday/Friday. We visited some of the schools that offer 11/12 VET courses such as JRLF, Claremont College, Rosny College, Bayview Secondary College, Drysdale Hobart Campus and Restaurant, and Sorell School. The aim was to help students plan for Years 11/12. It is compulsory for students to remain in education/training until they are 18 or have completed a Cert III qualification. There are many options to choose from, including staying at Campania District School, and it's always good to explore all the possibilities! Thanks to staff from all schools/sites that made this possible!
The Book Fair is coming to Campania School Libary! It will arrive on Wednesday 22nd and be here until the Thursday 23rd May. Come by at Recess, Lunch or between 3-4pm and support our school whilst getting your hands on the best new children’s books!
Online payment to scholastic and cash welcome.
