Campania District School News – Written by student leader Maddi
So far this term…
We have had our book fair in the library where students could browse and purchase new release books and stationery. Thank you to all the students who popped in to take a look or purchased something.
Well done to all the students who participated in the inter-high cross country the other week and a special well done to Mahalia who won the grade 7 girl’s cross-country. What an achievement!
The annual Reclink football series kicked off on the 28th of May. Teams from Oatlands, Tasman, Triabunna, Jordan River, Bothwell and Campania came together to play AFL. This year’s format was different from the mixed teams in previous years, with boys playing separately in a smaller 12 v 12 format, and girls playing AFL 9s.
Campania girls joined up with Triabunna and came away with big wins against Oatlands and Jordan River. Unfortunately, losing only to a strong Tasman team.
The boys teamed up with Tasman and held their chins up against a dominant Oatlands team. Confidence grew in the second game and the Tasman/Campania team came away with their first win against Jordan River.
Campania students were brilliant representatives for the school, demonstrating a high level of sportsmanship, resilience and skill. Good luck in the next round!
Earlier this week, the grade 2 class went on an excursion to the Molesworth Environmental Centre to work on their ‘team work’ skills. They had lots of fun! A select group of year 9/10 students also went on an excursion this week! They went to Rosny College to watch the musical rendition of the Leonardo DeCaprio movie, ‘Catch me if you can.’ The students enjoyed it very much and they even got to see some of our past students who were contributing in the play!
Thank you to everyone for supporting our recent Book Fair, the sales total was $1415.00 , earning school $353.00 in Reward points. A very big thank you to Joan for organising this for the school, Congratulations to all.
A reminder to carers and students that there is a student free day tomorrow the 7th of June, and a public holiday on Monday the 10th of June. There is a whole school assembly on the 12th of June where the student leaders will be receiving their badges, sharing what they have done so far and principals awards will be handed out.
From year 10 student leader,
Maddi Manning.
11 High School students attended the Inter-High Cross Country carnival on Friday. All students were fantastic participants and representatives of our school. A special congratulations to Mahalia who won the Grade 7 girls race and has been selected for the next carnival.
Parents/Carers - Reminder that at CDS we are using the SeeSaw app to share student work samples so you can see what’s happening at school. We also use it to direct message and share important information such as permission letters and info about upcoming excursions. It’s really encouraging for your child if you like the work sample by clicking the heart symbol or leave a comment – we do share these with the students. Do you have any questions about SeeSaw? Teachers are still learning too, so please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions. You can call our friendly office staff or email kym.johnson@decyp.tas.gov.au
