9/10 International Foods
In Semester 1, our International Foods class is going on a delicious journey, cooking and tasting dishes from around the world. In Week 2, students researched the geography and iconic foods of a selected country, deepening their understanding of different cuisines.
Each country’s culinary traditions are explored over two weeks—one dedicated to a savoury dish and the next to a sweet treat. We kicked off the semester with classic Australian flavours, making meat pies and pavlovas, before diving into the rich and hearty cuisine of Poland.
Polish recipes produced included:
Pierogi - Polish dumplings filled with cheesy, creamy mashed potatoes and served with an onion butter sauce.
Kolaczki {Polish Kolacky Cookies) - traditional Polish cookies made with a cream cheese cookie base and filled with sweet jam and Cytrynowe Ciasteczka (sih-trih-NOH-veh chass-TETCH-kah) - melt-in-your-mouth Polish lemon sandwich tea cookies.
